A designer is an individual who drafts the shape or arrangement of something from scratch, before it’s even made. Their job can be found in many places, but the most famous are architectural ones, such as those found in New York’s Empire State Building and the Chrysler building. More recently, their work can be found on everything from watches to fashion show bags.
A designer does much more than draft designs though. Some designers are actually artisans, creating the jewelry, furniture, fabrics and other designs as commissioned works. Others are in charge of conceptualizing or revising existing concepts. Still others are involved with the actual construction of the project, working with architects and constructors to make sure everything goes together just right.
For many years, interior designers were mostly men. Male interior designers worked mainly with industrial designs, painting, wallpaper and lighting. While there has been an increased interest in female designers over the past few years, it still stands out that most interior designers are men. Today, however, there are many female designers, though it’s still mostly men.
Many women have taken interest in becoming an interior designer, which allows them to work with more design and less practical experience. In addition, women are used to designing things like clothing, housewares and other goods. However, if one wants to pursue this career, then the first step is to attend a design school. There are many schools that offer designer clothing programs, so this should not be a problem if you’re interested.
The next step would be to find a principal designer. These are the individuals who oversee the designs and construction of the projects. Although the construction is usually carried out by different designers, the principle designer is the one who supervises every single stage of the project. The principal designer might also handle some of the finances, although he doesn’t actually have to do so because he reports directly to the owner or master architect.
Most designers are paid on an hourly basis, with some getting paid on a bi-weekly basis. This means that the more skilled designers can earn much more than the ones who only do simple designs. Designers also need to know technical aspects such as software, electronics and software for the building they are supervising. However, the highest paying designers range between seventy-five to ninety-five per hour.
